Top Reasons to Use Amazon Prime this Summer

This post was sponsored by Amazon as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Amazon Prime is a must in the summertime!  Why? Because it saves so much time, money, and frustration for families.  I’m happy to share not only my top reasons to use Amazon Prime but also about a great new offer from Amazon for those who are lower income.  Having access to Amazon Prime is now affordable for everyone at a great $5.99 monthly rate for those who are EBT cardholders!

Top Reasons to Use Amazon Prime this Summer

Let me start by saying how happy I am to share something new and affordable for those with lower income.  For many years, I’ve used Amazon Prime and found it to be a great frugal addition to our home.  However, that annual fee is not something everyone can afford to pay at once.  Amazon just announced that they are offering a $5.99 monthly subscription for those who are lower income and can provide proof of receiving government benefits via EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer).  This is a huge thing for those who couldn’t afford it before!

Customers with a valid EBT card can qualify for this discounted Amazon Prime membership.  This includes the Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Photos and of course the classic fast free shipping that we love.  If you hold an EBT card, you can qualify every 12 months (annually) up to 4 times! That’s 4 years of discounted Amazon Prime available easily to those who may not be able to afford the regular rate.  At this time, the only way to qualify for this discount is to have a valid EBT card. However, Amazon is working on other ways to qualify in the future if customers are part of other government assistance programs that don’t use EBT.

1. Amazon Music and Movies Keep Kids Happy

Summer is a tough time for some parents.  Having kids home all day long means it is much harder to keep kids safe and happy.  For those parents who are home with their kids in the summer months, it means struggling for entertainment.  Amazon Music offers up tons of great new and classic music for streaming. This is ideal for impromptu dance parties or just music education about those best hits from the 1980’s and 1990’s!

For long days at home when it’s too hot to go outside, you know you can use Amazon Prime to stream movies or music.  One thing I love about Amazon Prime streaming is that there are so many amazing educational shows for the kids to watch.  They are always releasing fun new Amazon Originals that are not just cool, but actually, have a bit of education or lesson. This relieves a lot of mom guilt on days when kids watch TV a lot.

2. Cheaper Summer Snacks and Treats

Having kids at home all day long means they are going to start eating more than you are used to buying.  For those who are on a strict budget, this can really be a problem. Especially if you are used to having snacks and lunch provided by their school.  Amazon Prime gives you great prices on tons of food products including popular kids snacks.  It also makes cooking from scratch more affordable with the options for buying supplies at a greatly discounted rate and have them shipped to your door.

3. Video Game Options on Twitch

If your kids love playing video games, Twitch is part of Amazon Prime and can save up to 20% off pre-release games, but also offers some great freebies.  For those watching their pennies and dimes but still wanting to reward kids for good behavior with a new game, this is ideal.

4. Free Book Options

Summer reading isn’t just an option, but a requirement for many homes.  Being able to access so many amazing free books via your Amazon Prime subscription makes it so easy!  This is also a bonus if your library is too far away to drive to regularly. For homes that only have one car, that may mean you can’t go to the library often.  Using free eBooks is a must! One of the best things with Amazon Prime is that your eBooks can be accessed on a Kindle, Smartphone using the Kindle App, or even on a desktop in your browser!  That means if you don’t have a special eReader device, you can still grab these freebies to enjoy.

Amazon Prime is a great option for helping save money this summer, but is also a great addition to any family!  Don’t forget to check out the new Amazon Prime Discounted Service if you currently have a valid EBT card to set up your discounted plan!
