My New Definition of “Me Time”

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of PEOPLE®, StyleWatch®, InStyle®, and Sunset®. The opinions and text are all mine.

The last few years, life has seemed liked it has been on a speeding train. I find that I’m spending less and less time on myself and more time running around making sure kids are going to karate, golf practice, being picked up from school and not to mention cleaning the house and making sure dinner is ready! Whew, I’m tired just writing these things out!

Being on a budget, it’s hard to want to spend a ton of money on myself; I mean, there are so many other things I could be doing with the money for a massage or facial– I don’t need all that, I really just need time devoted to myself that I can sit down and indulge in a couple of things that help me get lost in my thoughts.

While I was out doing my grocery shopping at Vons, I noticed Sunset Magazine along with People Magazine. I used to be a huge magazine reader– I would spend so much time enjoying the articles and learning from them. I would get quite a few ideas that I could implement myself. I used to save magazines because I was always scared that I would love the inspiration that I got from them–so, I would save as many as I could before George forced me to throw them away. Ha! But, life was getting in the way and I didn’t have time for all of that anymore. 😉

Sunset Magazine really intrigued me because my husband and I have been looking for backyard ideas for our next project. Our backyard has been completely destroyed due to the heat and our current drought. The grass is dead and the soil is actually not very soft at all.

When I got home I sat myself on the couch with my cider and dug deep into both of them. (Hey now, I’m getting “Me Time” without spending too much money and enjoying it in my home 😉 ) It was nice to sit down and get lost into Sunset Magazine and dream about ways to fix our backyard– There were quite a few affordable water-wise landscapes that gave me good ideas.

Not only will we have a great looking backyard, I plan to to have an affordable one too 😉

I’d love to hear about your “Me Time”! It doesn’t take a lot for me.. are you the same?
