Do you like to dress nice? Of course, you do. Do your kids keeping asking for those $150 jeans that all their friends wear? My older son does! He is only 11 and never had an issue wearing just whatever we bought him. Now, he suddenly has an opinion. If is wanting to dress yourself or your kids in name brand clothes, but your budget is saying no, there are ways to get around that!
In finding budget friendly ways to shop for high-end clothes, you will likely have to be willing to buy used stuff. If you are okay with that, you and I will get along just fine. 😉 Here are a couple of tips that I have found to get some great deals on high end clothing at Walmart prices:
Goodwill / Consignment Shops
I have bought Miss Me Jeans, Silver Jeans, North Face Fleece and brand new Nike Shoes (plus lots more) all from Goodwill and other thrift stores and consignment shops. All of these items were bought for way below retail. When shopping at these types of establishments, I refused to spend more than $10-$12 per item, which is never a problem.
To find the best deals at these stores, follow these tips:
- Shop early in the week when fresh inventory is put out. For example, Goodwill changes their color tags on Sunday, which means more deals on Sunday and Monday. You won’t miss inventory with Walmart prices!
- Choose your area wisely. I choose to go to Goodwill and thrift stores that are closer to affluent neighborhoods. You often find much higher end clothes when shopping this way.
- I have found the best luck shopping Consignment stores when these shops are in college towns. Young people often have nice clothes, but they also often need more money to help them take care of their college expenses. Consigning their name brand clothes is an easy way for them to earn money and a great way for you to save money!
High-End Thrift Stores
These stores are their own kind of wonderful. When you shop at high-end thrift stores, such as Plato’s Closet, you are going to pay more for your items. There, you don’t get Walmart prices, but there is nothing in these stores that isn’t high quality and in great shape! Many Miss Me and Silver type denim will sell for around $30-$40, but you will often only find this season’s styles and as I said earlier, they are all in great shape!
If used clothing and thrift shopping isn’t your thing, you can still save big, you just have to be willing to work for it! Head on in to your favorite retailer and scour those clearance racks! You have to be diligent and look through everything since they are often quite unorganized. You also have to look pretty regularly as clearance items change (often) weekly and you never know when those jeans you want will be on a huge price drop.
Don’t forget to use all available coupons too to get those Walmart prices! Kohl’s offers a coupon several times a year that you can pair with clearance to grab Rock & Republic jeans for $5-$10!!
