What Happens when you leave social media…..

If you follow me on Social Media.. you might have noticed that I have been absent. I am SO sorry to those that expect to see me everyday.. however, I really needed a BREAK. You see, I hate to admit this.. but a lot of the time I was neglecting my house, my family and was stuck trying to finish scrolling through facebook or catching up on periscope recordings… I don’t know if you notice but social media is a time.sucker.

With the Black Friday and Cyber Monday season coming up.. I wanted to take a break before I go full force into posting deals for those of you who love online shopping as much as ME! ๐Ÿ™‚

So, a couple of weeks ago.. I decided to stop. Cold Turkey. I give myself just 30 minutes a day to schedule posts to my two facebook  groups through a awesome tool called Edgar.  I stopped Instagram, periscoping (To everyone that follows me here, I WILL be back!) and even stopped seeing my Facebook newsfeed thanks to a new Chrome Extension called Kill Newsfeed.

I LOVE this because I can’t be distracted while working and get stuck in the abyss of scrolling through Facebook  ๐Ÿ˜‰

So what happens when you quit social media?

  • Your house stays clean ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • You aren’t so dependent on your phone.
  • You enjoy your family more.
  • You pay ATTENTION to everything else.

… and you are just SO much more happy!

I personally had to stop Instagram because It was clouded with people selling coupons or talking about the latest glitch.. which honestly, got to be too much for me. It makes me sad to see people taking advantage of the one thing that got me through the hard times of living on one income.. (coupons).. and thinking that it is okay to take advantage of store pricing mistakes.

I will say that I LOVE Periscope and My awesome private Facebook Groups. The atmosphere is almost always positive and people love to help. (want to join? Head here)

What have you done to limit your social media time?

  • Letticia says:

I missed you, but am so glad you are doing well!

    • Josie says:

I miss you too Letticia! I just needed to take a break and recollect my reasons for being on Social Media. I’m actually really excited to come back to Periscope!

  • Kelly A. says:

You are so right about a lot of these things, Josie. Totally agree with the unplug, and get more things done way of thinking. Just a note on taking advantage of pricing errors. I find that most of the time, my receipt has an error (or coupons not being taken off properly or for their full amount) that is in the store’s favor more often than I find that a store employee has mis-priced something. It happens quite often, so I have to force myself to look over the receipt before I leave the store.
