3 Ways to Curl Hair Without a Curling Iron

3 Ways to Curl Hair Without a Curling Iron

Your curling iron does a great job of giving you the curly hair you want. However, it’s also damaging your hair, by exposing your locks to high heat. Did you know that you can get heat-free curls that will look just as good as those your curling iron makes? It’s true!

Here are 3 ways to curl hair without a curling iron.

1. Scrunch Your Hair

Scrunching can make your hair wavy or curly, depending on what hair texture you have. It’s a fast and easy way to get a whole head full of fun, messy curls. Start this method by washing your hair with a volumizing shampoo. Then use a conditioner on only the ends of your hair. Once you’ve rinsed away the conditioner, use a towel to squeeze away the excess water.

Next, work a dab of mousse or styling gel into your damp hair. Now bend forward and scrunch your hair with the mousse or gel. Use the same method you’d use to crumple up a piece of paper. Just try to keep the mousse or gel away from your roots so your hair doesn’t look greasy when you’re done. Now allow your hair to dry, and you’re good to go!

2. Use Hairpins to Make Pin Curls

This is how your grandmother may have curled her hair back in the day. This method involves pinning up your hair before you go to bed at night. When you get up in the morning and remove the pins, you’ll have a gorgeous head of curly hair.

After washing your hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioning your hair, rinse it clean. Then gently squeeze the water out and towel dry your hair. Next, apply a bit of hair gel to your hair and work it in.

Now it’s time to section out your hair. Just take a small section of your hair from the side and wrap the end around your index finger to make a loop. Hold it in place with your thumb and index finger. Now roll the section upward until it’s snug against your scalp. Then just hold the rolled-up section flat against your scalp and secure it with a hairpin. Repeat this process with the rest of your hair.

When you’re done pinning, wrap a silk scarf around your hair to secure the hairpins and go to bed. When you get up in the morning, remove the pins to undo your curls. Then finger-comb your hair to make it look natural. Finish up by misting your locks with hairspray for extra holding power.

3. Use Velcro Rollers

Velcro rollers are heat-free. If you want tight curls, use small rollers. If you want big curls, use large velcro rollers. To begin, wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo then condition it and rinse. Use a towel to squeeze out the excess water.

Section off your hair and roll your hair upwards in the rollers until they’re snug against your scalp. You don’t need to secure the rollers with pins because they’ll stick to secure themselves. Now just wait about two hours until your hair is dry. Then remove the rollers gently and run your fingers through your hair. Finish up by applying a thin layer of hairspray.

Conclusion

All three of these methods for curling hair without a curling iron are easy to do. Just pick your favorite and do some heat-free curling! You’ll be so amazed by your curls that you may give up that beloved curling iron once and for all!
